As the recognized leader in the lighting industry, we are committed to providing our customers with the kind of specialized instruction and practice that results in becoming more proficient in lighting sciences, design and product knowledge. We believe in training... and our Lighting Center speaks volumes about this commitment.
In 1991, the Lighting Center opened a 20,000 square-foot facility, primarily as a walk-through product demonstration area with a single classroom for presentation purposes. A combination of lamp technology, optics and product displays and application vignettes were integrated throughout the space.
As we entered into more diverse markets, and education requirements throughout the industry grew, the Center responded by adding 12,000 square-feet of classroom space, bringing the total to 32,000 square-feet in 1998.
It was in 2000 that the facility was formally named, "The Jim H. McClung Lighting Center," to honor the industry commitment to education of the retiring president and CEO of Lithonia Lighting, Jim H. McClung. His vision helped to ensure that the Lighting Center, the first facility of it's kind, was created and through his support, maintained it's industry leadership role.
The Jim H. McClung Lighting Center is used for a wide variety of training functions. Guests include Specifiers, Distributors, Contractors, Public Works, College and Universities, Elementary Schools, Researcher's and many others. Each group bringing a fresh perspective to the Center and it's staff.
Accommodating both large and small groups, the Lighting Center is designed to create optimal training environments in a classroom setting, as well as, allow participants to experience products in specific applications. Tours of the demonstration and presentation areas provide visitors with an enlightening look at the various applications of lighting.
The Lighting Center is equipped with state-of-the-art multimedia and computer equipment, and a knowledgeable and professional staff to support all activities.
