Learning Objectives
- Differentiate Acuity Brands Lighting brands and products
- Explain the benefits and limitations of common luminaire choices
- Use web based design tools to select the most appropriate fixtures
This program equips participants with cutting edge technology enabling them
to develop their best designs in the least time. Sessions target the lighting
needs of offices, classrooms, warehouses, and parking lots along with the
benefits and limitations of products typically used in these spaces. Lighting
regulations and energy codes are reviewed, along with a number of web based
support tools.
Participants travel to Conyers on Sunday, December 9th, with the program
beginning Monday morning and concluding Tuesday afternoon. Transportation to the
Atlanta airport departs the Lighting Center at 2:45 PM.
Optional Visual Software Training

Those wishing to participate in Visual training on December 12th will stay over,
departing for the airport at 2:30 PM Wednesday afternoon. Registration for
this session is limited only to those enrolled in the associated Lighting Center
program.

of the Acuity Brands Lighting companies. Discussions focus on Gotham, Peerless,
Hydrel, Antique Street Lamps, SpecLight, Mark Architectural and recent Lithonia
introductions. Lighting regulations and energy code updates are included.
Participants travel to Conyers on Monday, February 11th, with an opening event
followed by dinner that evening. The program begins Tuesday morning and
concludes Wednesday afternoon. Transportation to the Atlanta airport departs the
Lighting Center at 4:30 PM.

Festival of Lights USA (Session Closed)

Acuity Brands Lighting and our hometown of Conyers, GA combine to produce an
outdoor lighting competition for lighting design professionals and students,
along with a public festival in historic Olde Town, patterned after the Festival

Lighting for High Performance Schools (Closed)
April 28 29, 2008 Learning Objectives
- Define the characteristics of a high performance school
- Explain design parameters for the video classroom
- Apply daylighting techniques to enhance the learning environment
- Choose amongst fluorescent and HID light sources
High Performance School Lighting integrates light quality, daylighting, and
energy saving alternatives to build a school that runs efficiently, saves money,
protects natural resources, and provides superior visual comfort. The
expectations for schools have changed drastically in the past 15 years. From
whiteboards to computers, the design community is facing a revolution in
lighting. Strict energy codes demand creative problem solving and daylight
integration. Jim Benya of Benya Lighting Design shares his knowledge and
experience to create High Performance School Lighting.
